I currently have mineral oil and pure acetone.

I have also used q-tips and dish detergent

Any advise would be appreciated.

I am trying to remove dirt, crud etc. from copper, nickel & silver coins

I always get booed off the stage when I recommend a bit of olive oil and either a Q-tip or a wood toothpick, followed by a soap rinse (sure works for me), so I won't recommend this.

I recommend "E Zest" which you can get for about $5. It really cleans up silver in about three seconds. If you use anything besides a Q tip to gently remove muck then your coin might be considered to have been cleaned. If you used a toothbrush to just do a little cleaning then I supposed it is now a cleaned coin? Am I right on this point. What exactly constitutes cleaning? FROG, get out of the car and drop that toothpick! You fit description of dangerous Frog with lethal Q Tip. Watch your head as you get in po-lice car of coin cleaning prevention detention squad. You won't get more than ten years on coin pile if you cop a plea.

If it's just dirt & not a great coin anyway, experiment with Dawn dish soap. Also try vinegar. If you plan to sell it, just leave it alone.

Don't fall into the ''Coin Cleaners Club'' Just use Acetone and pick at crud with a thorn from a rose bush .
The thorn will not scratch the coin .

If they are only circulated coins then a wash in hot soapy water and then pour a kettle of hot clean water over them will get most of the grime off them.
It's not that bad an idea to clean them up as circulated coins can have some "Nasty" stuff on them at times
