Acetone For Uncirculated Aluminum - Coin Community Forum

Finn235 Pillar of the Community United States 6130 Posts	Posted 08/17/2016 4:52 pm Couldn't find a solid answer for this. I need to get some tape residue () off of some BU aluminum coins. Will acetone do the trick? I know it's recommended for silver, nickel, and cupronickel, but NOT bronze. How does it do on aluminum? Report this Post to the Staff

By the way, It acetone IS recommended on bronze, brass, and copper coins just as long as you know to keep a close eye on them and not let the patina change too much. Report this Post to the Staff

I think extreme exposure to light (sunlight) is to be avoided with copper and bronze.
