Had to switch to my MacBook Air from the iMac (needs new HD). Now the Remote Shooting with the EOS Utility doesn't work. The "Canon settings/Remote shooting" is grayed out. I have tried everything I know to get this to work, but no success. Need help. Thanks.

I'm not a Mac guy, but you might need to upgrade to a newer version of EOS utility.

Thanks, Ray. My desktop is a Mac, but I don't know if I have the upgraded version on the laptop. Can I go to the Canon website and do this?

Weird things are happening. Now the settings on DPP are on manual even though the camera is set to AV. How can I get the DPP settings back to AV?

Apple came out with a new (updated) operating system-Sierra. Now my Canon remote shooting does not work. I went to Canon's website to get the new drivers and software, but they do not have it for Sierra. Any suggestions, as I have spent hours and hours using Canon's remote shooting and DPP software. Thanks, Ham.

I contacted Canon and received the following reply. Looks like I will have to wait until the end of October.
From: Camera Support <eoscamera@cits.canon.com> Subject: Re: Email Support Form Message [ET-7136261055664434524] Date: October 22, 2016 at 5:15:48 AM MST To:

Thank you for contacting Canon product support. I understand that you have questions regarding the Canon software update for Mac OS Sierra operating system. I can address this for you.
We have not posted the software updates on our website yet. Please check closer to the end of October for the EOS Utility updates. I would like to do some work now, what might be some alternatives to remote shooting to my computer until Canon posts the software updates? Thanks, Ham.

It likely won't help - pretty much all of the 3rd party solutions use the Cannon library for their interaction with the camera. If the new OS broke something at that level, until Canon fixes (works around) the low level problems, you are toast...

BStrauss3, that is horrible news! Canon has in the past made available fixes for Apple's new operating system updates. I see no reason why they shouldn't this time also. We shall see. I might have to revert to the previous operating system.

It takes time to get software certified and many manufactures are reluctant to use anything except the released version for development/testing (given the last minute 'little' changes snuck in I can understand that). So a delay of a month or two is not uncommon.

I am downloading the previous operating system as I write this. Should be completed in a couple days. Yes, it takes that long via Apple Store. Thanks BStrauss3 for your input.

As it turns out, I received some bad advice from a couple of Apple techs. There is a drawn out procedure to remove the present operating system and replace it with the one that works with Canon software. I will be contacting Apple this afternoon to start the process.
