I go to a LOT of post offices.
Of the numerous sets I've seen on those display carousels, the Silver Dollars in these coins are toned in a majority of the sets, anywhere from Gold-to-Purplish, mainly on the reverse painted side. Why this is happening? Could the paint be some sort of new paint that's having a reaction with the Silver?
It was actually rare to see one without toning, which I only came across once or twice.

When I was in the PO yesterday I looked at that set and it was toned a nice gold. I asked to see it and opened it it to the other side (obv) and it was silver no toning. The display case it was in sits against a wall between two windows. The sales lady said she was sure it was silver when they put it it the case. The coins in the case stay there and when one is sold she gets it from the safe out bask.

Yeah, so it's leaning toward natural toning?

This coin in the first pics do not look like toning, either wrong planchet, or experimental plating by someone

I sent it to c.c.c.s.in September I was in contact with them a few time seams like he is having problem with cooperation from mint.He did tell me that there is a weight difference on the coin....We will get in contact in the new year if not before...Merry Christmas and Happy New year to all.

@ Jakko What happened to Jake222 and what for "cooperation from mint?" --- is CCCS unable to determine if the coin is silver?

The old account? Lol
Interesting that cccs 's response for this coin mirrors cccs's response is for the 2017 toonie. Kind of weird.

This response from RCM is very typical, they do not respond to simple questions regarding regular mintage figures from previous years only when things hit the courts and become public knowledge do the mint acknowledge or admit to anything. CCCS seems to have some contacts within the RCM as I have seen some of the weirdest and wildest errors from RCM being slab by them along with the explanations that gives a new light to the inner workings of the RCM, Jake 222 you should ask CCCS if they have XRF the coin it will answer most of the questions.

Yeah it's kind of weird. CCCS is asking RCM if it's a gold planchet I guess. I'm missing the point of it being sent to a TPG because I thought that's what they'd do.
