I had put this one aside assuming it was one of those reduced AE4s struck with AE3 dies. I now realize that is not the case:

Bumped the contrast a bit to enhance the pic; this one is pretty shallow relief. Other side is completely smooth.

It's spot on for AE4 size... About 13mm and about a gram.

Thinking at this time that it's some sort of barbarous copy, but I have never seen one that didn't even try to put a legend on the coin? Maybe it could be one of those pre-Augustus Spanish Celtics?

It can be a barbarous copy. Sometimes, the head is to big and there is no much place for a legend .It looks a radiate from the second half of the 3th century .
On my Teticus I coin , there is only an impression of the legend on the obverse .The reverse is better , but the proportions between legend and image are bad. The diecutter had often not many experience , had to copy from another coin and was often illiterate.I can not see it very well , but between 10 and 11 h , there are maybe some remnants of letters?

The thing about the imitations is that the radiate crown was *the* most important feature of the contemporaries of Tetricus I. The crown was the most important indication of value, so it is never omitted.

The portrait reminds me very much of maybe Constantine II, but the shallow relief and shape of the facial features conclude that it is most likely not an official issue. I have seen lots of barbarous copies of the later series, but every one at least attempts to squeeze a legend on the coin, even if it's just illiterate babble.

There's also that thing above the portrait's ear. Never seen anything like that before.

I have rotated the coin and indicated the head, the radiate crown and the letters of the legend . Your opinion if you compare it with the coin?albert
