Considering an 1857 flying eagle which is ostensibly Snow 2, type of 1856. But they're hard to identify even in mint state, and this one's just worn enough where it's not impossible to tell, but it ain't easy either. The "F" looks wrong to me. Thoughts?

I think the F looks okay. At first I was concerned that the foot of the F was too far from the wing edge, but I think this area is worn, which could explain it.

More importantly, I am concerned about what appear to be surfaces with environmental damage.

This is not a tough coin in nice shape!

Can you give us full obverse and larger pics?

1857-Fe-Cent-Snow-2?

In all its glory (or lack thereof, depending on whether it's a Snow 2!)

I think you may be right but it looks like it has environmental damage, and according to the Cherrypicker's Guide it doesn't have that much of a premium over a normal 1857, especially outside of the higher grades. I feel like you'd be in a catch 22 in terms of ever selling it. To get the Snow-2 premium you will probably need it slabbed and attributed. But it will almost certainly come back with a details grade, detracting from the premium.

Well I must say, env damage didn't cross my mind. It's obvious now that I'm looking for it so thanks for pointing that out! This variety's definitely something I want to pick up eventually but not a damaged one.

Large obverse pic looks better on surface condition. Could you show us the reverse, please.

To be clear, I'm assuming those black dots are pits on the surface. That is what I based my environmental damage statement on. If those are carbon spots or something on the surface I may be wrong.
