After looking at 5000 + Buffaloes this week, I managed to find a few interesting things. I have seen clashing fairly often on these nickels, but not quite this severe. On the first one, you can see the "U" and the "N" from UNUM right under his chin, and part of the "B" from PLURIBUS under the "U". The reverse shows little evidence of this clash in that area. The second one shows the same thing , just a little bit more of the "B" and part of the "I" right next to his neck. The reverse of this coin clearly shows evidence of the clashing through those letters. This is a no date buffalo,I thought it was pretty cool that most of the remaining letters on the obverse are from the reverse I would love to see an uncirculated one with clashing this severe...someone ?...anyone ?...Bueller ? Bueller ? Bueller ?....

Pretty neat. We sometimes call them "lettered chins". There is a lot more of the clash than I have seen on others like this.

Is the coin dated? In any case, it's a nice example.

Thanks,
Bill

Sorry Bill, no dates on these. I do have a couple with dates that have the clash, but not quite this severe. I have yet to see an nicer one, XF-or better, with clashing this bad- I would love to see that. I will keep looking !
