Scrolling through the forum's homepage, one section looks different from all the others: most of the Australian section's subforums don't have subheadings, leaving non-Australians (and probably some locals, too) guessing as to what the various sections are for.

Case in point: this recent thread, where an American newbie doesn't know what "decimal" and "pre-decimal" mean.

In light of this, can I offer the following suggestions for comment and approval:

Australian Pre-Decimal Coin Forum
Coins issued in Australia prior to 1966, including colonial issues and pre-Federation imperial gold.

Australian Decimal Coin Forum
Current coins from "Down Under", issued 1966 or later. Circulation, NCLT and bullion coins.

Australian Variety and Error Coin Forum
Anything odd, curious or different found on Australian coinage.

Australian Banknote Forum
Paper money issued for Australia or the Australian colonies.

That should cover it.

Thanks Sap, don't know how that slipped by everyone.

I posted them as is for now, but if anyone has any suggestions for tweaking we can certainly discuss it here.

Great, and I must admit--even if I collect some "predecimal" coins, I don't quite understand how all the denominations relate to one another: 2 Halfpenny = 1 Penny, 3 Penny = Threepence x 2 = Sixpence, etc? I suppose I should research this on my own, but it strikes me as worthy of a discussion.

If Bobby didn't hate stickies so much, I'd recommend stickifying this old thread, which answers your question.
