My colleague has brought in a few coins into the office today, this one we cannot identify and I'm looking for some help!

Looks like Spanish Netherlands (or that region). I see the "16" from the date, but the other side of the crown is obliterated.

Possibly Namur Liard 1692 KM#1.

it is a liard from the Spanish king Charles II (1665 - 1700) , for the Spanish Netherlands .The legends are : obv: CAROL. II D.G.HISP.ET INDIARUM REX + date and MINTMARK , rev : ARCHID AUTR DUX BURG BRAB Z- , +- 24 mm , +- 3.7 gr . There can be a little difference in the legends depending the mint . albert

FRONT: Crowned fire-iron surrounded by three coats of arms. Austria left, right and bottom Burgundy Brabant.
TEXT: (Lily) CAROL. II. D. G. HISP. ET. INDIARVM. REX (or variant). This is full: Carolus II Dei gratia et Hispaniarum Indiarum rex, meaning: Charles II, by God's grace King of Spain and the Indies.
Reverse: Crowned coat of arms which is divided into several areas, either side of the crown the year.
TEXT: ARCHID. AVST. DVX. BVRG. BRAB.Z (Or variant). This is full: archidux Austria dux Burgundie Brabantiae, and means Archduke of Austria, Duke of Burgundy and Brabant.
The Z has some history and means etcetera

Prescription 64 pieces of a mark, this gives a weight of approximately 3.84 grams each.

Struck:
Period January 1690 to April 14 4 1693 approximately 3,817,952 units.
Period August 2, 1693 to January 15, 1696 approximately 5.27116 million units.
Period January 16 1696 to July 3, 1700 approximately 9.22344 million units.
On September 11 1689 mintmaster La Derrière was transporting a passport to 12000 marks copper plates from the Netherlands to Bruges there to struck liards. On June 11, 1693 was granted to him again a passport for the amount of 20,000 marks copper plates. These amounts plates accounted for around 2048000 pieces resorts. On April 15, 1693 has also been granted a passport for 60,000 pieces of copper plates for the coin masters of Brabant and Flanders. How many have been here for every home currency is not known.
