This is a somewhat scarce item from my world gold collection. IMO I believe it is at least AU or better. What do others think and what is the value? KM/NGC prices seem a bit low to auction prices I have seen. What are your opinions?

Well in Scandinavia we do not use the US grading scale - from my point of view the grading in US terms are not of any relevance, since it is a Norwegian coin.

In US this coin is probably AU, in Norway it will be VF/XF - these gradings are the same. :)

HOLY COW, you really have something special here!

For what I can see on the picture (too bad it's blurry), this coin is 01 Norwegian or AU in 'Murcan scales.

There is just one year, 1910, and there are just a few thousand of these pieces made (about 50.000 if I remember correctly) and these don't hit the market too often. Prices for this coin can easily be a few thousand dollars: I wouldn't be surprised if you can find a Norwegian who is willing to pay $2500 for this one. Maybe even more.

UltraRant, Thanks for the info on this and the 2 kroner. I am sure the prices you estimated were a lot higher than what they would sell for here in the U.S. I am almost tempted to place them on ebay, but I'll just keep them in my collection for now.

You can be right about that. I also buy my US coins here significantly cheaper than most people in the US buy them for. Which isn't a bad thing, I guess.

If you ever decide to sell this coin, then let me know and I'm sure that we can work something out.

If you're fast, then here's a link to the more 'common' 10 NOK in gold (with Oscar II instead of Haakon VII), just for the idea. I have to say that this is one of the more expensive shops in Norway, as a side note.
