Get rid of em' while you can. They are much less desirable than the 90% and you can put the money into something you need, or rent or even your wife!

If you're getting rid of them, I'll take all you want to sell for $2.

Since a 40% half dollar has over $2.90 worth of silver in it, anything under $2.75 would seem pretty low to me. I suppose 'supply and demand' is depressing the price dealers are willing to pay. With a plentiful supply of both 90% and 40% coins, no one want to mess with the 40%.

Might be a good investment opportunity.

Recovery costs are slightly higher too, as well as the fact that these can't be mixed with other coins to make bags. Because it also usually takes time to amass 2000 halves for a full bag, I'd be reluctant to pay out big money for a small collection of 40% halves as well.

Don't sell any more at that price right now. My local coin shop is selling 90% silver halves at $14 per $1 face value, for bullion content alone. (that's actually just under melt value). That's $7 for each 90% silver half dollar. Your 40% half dollars should go for about $3.10 right now.

Where are you from? That's a good price. Only a few coin shops around here and they aren't paying that close to melt value. I've been getting best prices on ebay.

You know...I've never sold a coin in my life......including the silver halves ! But, I gotta say.....kinda getting tempted to see what the dealer(s) in my town is paying for them. I'm thinking I've got about 60 40%ers and around 10 90%ers.......hummmmm....
I don't do ebay so......it'd have to be the "coin shop" for me.
