I am leaning towards Planchet Void because
There is no pressure ridge
There is no anvil effect on the Reverse

I would appreciate any thoughts...

Looks like a small lamination or strike through to me

Struck through is what I was leaning towards.

Thanks, everyone. The idea of a struck through copper scrap did not occur to me because of the large size of the area and the significant depth. However, it makes sense - and may even help explain the unevenness of the bottom.
