For advanced collectors probably not huge, but for myself... Pretty big. I've had a growing interest in this area for the last several years and I have few sporadic examples to show for it. So, I just tossed caution to the wind and ended up with this auction grab. I've always had a thing for older British Copper and in particular, pieces from George II. It looks fantastic in hand and I'm really, really pleased. Hope to add a few more over the next year if I'm lucky.

Probably fair market value, maybe a bit over... but you can't get a deal everytime. Sometimes you do, sometimes not, but it balances out. Fortunately, I'm just hobbyist :)

Certainly a nice coin, high grade coins don't always come cheap, at £280 it was probably about at its money, spink rates this at £330 for the grade, so you've paid book price, but you won't need to upgrade.......

Just noticed that the same coin went through the same auction on the 8th June and sold for £100 less :-/

I was aware of the June 8th auction beforehand and a £100 cheaper would have been nice, but that's just the way the auction circuit goes. No plans to liquidate, that will be the responsibility of my children when I'm gone :)
You're right... This type is done and it's onward to the next!

Yeah, that is a NICE coin. I would love to upgrade by 1752 to that one. You have a nice example of the type!

OK, so maybe you paid a little more than you could have done but, in the grand scheme of things, so what? Its a beautiful coin, you're happy. Enjoy it. Here's looking forward to seeing your next purchase.

@ EFLargeCents - Thank you! @ Hogarth - My thoughts exactly. I wanted a really nice example of this type and when I saw the auction preview, I knew that this was my coin. The wait for the auction start was agonising. One of the hardest lessons in my collecting life learned is that you're not always going to get a deal and when you see a coin you really, really want, be prepared to pay. I did pay for the coin using USD funds, so the exchange rate softened the blow a bit.. or drove up the price if another yank was bidding on it as well
