Issued in 1977 by the Royal Canadian Mint to honor the 25th anniversary of the first Canadian born Governor General. This sterling silver medal has an ASW of 1.428. The obverse has a likeness of Queen Elizabeth II. Reverse: Depicts the four Canadian born Governors General since 1952. The 45mm size of these medals presents a nice large "canvas" for the four portraits on the reverse. I collect these medals as companion pieces to Canada's 1977 commemoratve silver dollar that also marked QEII's 25th anniversary. Thanks for sharing! Collecting history one coin or medal at a time! SilverDon Pillar of the Community Canada 2360 Posts	Posted 10/08/2016 12:37 pm It is a great companion piece to the 1977 Silver Dollar Commemorative honouring the 25th Anniversary of the Coronation of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The three different finishes; brilliant devices on brilliant fields in the Specimen Dollar frosted legends and devices with mirrored fields on the Proof Silver Medal, and matte finish of the Cupro-Nickel Medal there is great contrast in the presentation but similar design.
