Please help me identify this. It was mixed in with coins but I do not think it is, maybe a commemorative medallion?

Yep, it's not a coin, but a Canadian medal to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Confederation. They were issued by the Canadian government as an official commemorative piece, and the small ones were given away to schoolchildren. Larger ones (about 70mm diameter) with the same design were given to bureaucrats, government members or sold as souvenirs.

Wow! I guess I better start using the search function before I post. Thanks for the links as I also have a couple of those issued in '67.
I have another dated from 1939, any idea of what this one would be for?

Thanks,
Glen

There where many issued in 1939 for the Royal Visit. The most common has a map of Canada on the reverse and if you look closely you will see a thin line showing the route taken by King George VI and Queen Elizabeth. They were issued in various sizes and were either bronze or silver.

Chyrcopaul, You hit it on the head, I'm looking at the bronze copy. And I had seen the lines but had no idea of what they were. thanks for the education.
