Hi,
Could you please help to decide if the coin below is a common Type I (East Africa KM#28.1) or Type II with the small loop (KM#28.2)?
I have studied photos of both types but still not sure about this specific coin. Thanks.

Looks like type II(2) to me.
The loop is under a denticle's length away from the closest denticle.

Thank you bungle. I also see now that this is Type II. I have bought another 1941 shilling (Type I) - see the photo below. The differences in the distance and the shape of the loop are obvious, so the first coin is definitely Type II.
There is no price in Krause for Type II (KM28.2) so it is interesting what people ask for this type at ebay: $26, $125, $200, $500, $750, $1300, $2000, up to $3500 (!). There are many available coins of this type so it looks not really "rare". Any ideas about the real price of this coin?

Excellent photos. They helped me determine finally the key differences after 2 hours of comparisons! Glad I came here.

Just picked this up, I am pretty sure it's a Type II. Because of the light reflections it was hard to ascertain, but I am about 95% sure. Also, looks like at least an AU grade.
