This is a beautiful set of the Penny. This will be popular and sought after by collectors with only 3000 set available. Can't wait to get this.

Wow, thank you for info, Jimper

But be careful, the CCF politics doesn't allow us to post the images prior RCM release ....

I believe, together with purchase for the collection, this one will be loaded in quantities for the re-sell:
we all remember what happened with previous set, and many people , who doesn't have 2012 one will look for for 2017 (but basically not MC have low chance to get it)......yes, people will be ready to pay

@Silveroid

I totally agree. I just happen to browse the mint site and happen to see it and pounced on it right away.

With pennies being a thing of the past, I predict this set will do very well. I ordered one set for my personal collection since I missed out on the 2012 farewell set.

The two 2oz pennies will be so nice in-hand, it will compliment my 2oz voyageur gold-plated silver dollar.

Not that you can trust it, but RCM is showing 379 sets left. They have a payment plan available for this set. I'm sure I saw 1,2 or 3 payments, but now I just see the 1 payment of $709.95 or 3 payments of $236.65.

I can't believe so many people are interested in this set. The price is way to high for me to even consider buying it. I guess we should expect all coins that are "Hot" to be redone in the future. I think this set was a bad idea as it has only been 5 years since the original penny set, and could negatively affect the original series.

@rjlavoie

I still see the option of 1,2,3 payment plan. Where do you see that there is 379 set left?

@Redzapsid

Remind me of 2015 5pcs Venetian Glass Insect Gold Coins Set. ( mntage 100 sets )
But the price for gold coin is attractive, CAD$3750 per coin ( 2oz gold ) = USD$1,418 / oz gold.

I prefer the 2012 Farewell set for the simple reason that the coins it contains are truer to the originals they are meant to commemorate.

The original 1908 and 1911 cents are 25.4mm in diameter; each of the others cents reproduced in the set is 19.05mm.

In the 2012 set, all of the coins were 19mm in diameter - essentially the same size as three of the five original coins. Granted, the two earliest cents are about 20% smaller than the originals - 19mm vs. 25.4mm - but they are close.

With the new set, all of the coins are significantly larger than the originals and that causes them (for me) to lose a good bit of their connection to the originals. The 1908 and 1911 "large cent" reproductions are 54mm in diameter vs. the original 25.4mm (more than double the size) and the three "small cent" repros are 38mm in size vs. the original 19.05mm (essentially double the original size).

The new set is attractive (because the original designs are) but not something that resonates with me as a collector - I guess I'm too traditional.

your comments are right on Commens, however, I felt great disappointment when the 'large cents' in the 2012 set were not 'large'. I felt that the mint really let us down by cheaping out and using one planchet for all 5 of the coins.

This set, to me, is a more affordable 'big coin' set. I'm looking forward to receiving it.

The Rose gold enhancement is quite nice on such intricate designs from the early years.

As of now, the RCM has 293 sets left.

BTW, has the CCF changed its policy for not allowing pictures from the RCM until it reaches the public? Normally they would delete the pictures.

@MoneyPenney

Would you like me to remove one of the pictures?

Where do you get the info on how many set are left?

Add the item to your cart then increase how many you want and click update.
If you see the message in red letters appear " Legacy of the Penny Five-Coin Set - Mintage: 3,000 (2017) - insufficient inventory to proceed.", then lower the quantity and update until the insufficient message goes away.

Selling quickly now, showing only 88 left. I wonder if this is another commissioned set?
