Just looking for information on this PL Set. I see it listed in coin books but never see any on ebay or at coin shows. I only know of one set and just wondering if anyone here has one. I'm just interested in the population and how scarce it is.

It is not a common thing to find... the 1965 LB 1c PL is definitely an undervalued coin, in my opinion.

Chadcoins, I consigned a 1965 Blunt Dollar/ Large Bead Penny PL Set with Michael Walsh in a June 2005 Auction, it was a group of sets covering the known combinations. At the time of auction it was listed as the only known set with that combination. I had searched close to 500 sets and only found the one set with that combination. I still have a couple sets with the large bead cents.

collector67 - Yes you are correct about that auction back in 2005 of the one set known at the time. I have searched like you and still come up empty handed for the Blunt dollar/large bead penny set. I have found a number of pointed 5 dollar/large bead penny sets since. Yes I was the one that bought that lot in 2005 and still cherish that set and thanks to you for finding it. Many 1965 sets were cut for silver and the large bead penny sets are on the endangered list.

I have one set that I have never cut apart it's the Pt5 dollar though, I also purchased a penny at a flea market years ago PL-64 sold in Chuck Moore auction.
But I agree some what hard to find usually sell at a good premium.

Here's a 65 pointed 5 small bead that I pulled from a set a long time ago (which I wish I had left together)

Do you think it would get a PL designation?

I would send it in to get certified in a heart beat.If it was cut from a set it should get graded as a PL and being a solo coin could fetch a nice premium in a sale. I checked every set for a pointed 5 penny with no luck.
