If I am understanding you correctly, the coins are inside of a letter opener, like encased in it. They are most likely plated to look silver colored and would hold no numismatic value in, or outside of the letter opener.
It would be best to leave it alone and keep it as a conversation piece.

Yes by all means. they are plated and brazed or soldered onto the letter holder . No value .
