It sounds like everyone is in agreement,or,at the least,suspicious.So I'll take it back to Him.I can use the money to fill one,or more,of the 8,now 9,holes left.

Well,I took it back and told Him that I wasn't so sure it was real.So he wanted to take it too show some folks at the show He was going to attend that weekend.He must have showed it too someone and didn't get the answer He wanted.He ended up sending it in to ANACS.
The verdict is...

I'd say ANACS blew it. I checked the Register of Seated dollar Varieties and there are 14 obv dies known for this date http://www.seateddollarvarieties.com/1871.shtml NONE of them have this large 8. They all have the tops of the digits at the same level. I think ANACS got fooled by a fake.
