Hi guys, very new to ccf. I'm looking for tips on coin roll hunting. I mainly am going through pennies, hoping to complete my collection soon. My only problem is, I currently don't have enough money to get a box of pennies, and the tellers cringe when they see me come in. I usually ask for 4 rolls at a time, and they always seem confused about this request. I'm kind of shy to tell them that I collect coins. Tips?

Are you a member of the bank? I am a member of the bank I use to buy cent rolls. I pre order 10 boxes at a time. I was honest with them from the get go. If your bank isn't collector friendly find one that is. Also don't dump at the same bank you buy from.

I am young and I don't think I am a member. I do have an account, but I don't know if that counts

There are only 2 banks in my immediate area. One of witch I've already mentioned, and the other has brand new shotgun rolls of everything. I dump there, because they have a coinstar. There are other banks near-ish, but they're past main street, and because I'm still a kid, I'm not allowed past Main Street.

if you have an account then you are a member, so don't feel bad to ask for rolls, all they can do is say no. also be honest, say you are a collector, maybe they have odd or interesting coins hiding that they can sell you.

maybe discuss with your parents, and maybe they will loan you the $25 for 1 box, then you can recycle that $25 over and over? maybe they will let you pay them back by extra chores around the house.

What banks are you dealing with? Bank of America is horrible in terms of dealing with coins - I think they want to get rid of them, to be honest.

Roy and I think you have been given some great advise. I'm sure you are already polite with your request and just smile and be honest. Let them know if they have some rolls that have been wrapped by customers you would love to look through them to learn and collect.
I also think extra chores is a great idea for spending money. And perhaps doing little things around the house without being asked might help. Fold the laundry, take out the trash rake some leaves etc.
Good luck and keep us posted!
Rest in Peace

Incredible , our new members are getting younger and younger . My advice to Roy , just keep getting 4-6 rolls at a time right now . Get to know the teller's names, do tell them your a new coin collector and trying to fill a folder of Lincoln Cents . Always smile and be polite .
There you go ; Your a CRH .

Tell them how much you appreciate their effort and give them a small gift on some holiday.

Don't feel bad. Some tellers are easily confused. Take in a roll of cents for an example.
