Hello! In my country - Poland - is very popular investing money in new silver coins. For example coin with "Falcon", which has been issued on Janurary 2008 has got issued price only 91 PLN (1 USD = 2,3 PLN), but in the same day on internet auctions it costs over 400 PLN. Near the National Bank of Poland, which has been emited that coin, were very long waiting lines (a dozen or so TAUSENDS people). This lucky people, who can buy this coins, earn 400% in one day! I also tried to invest in coins and I make over 800% in 6 months! What do you think about it? Is in United States also investing in coins so popular? Edited by romekd 03/16/2008 08:44 am

WELCOME TO THE FORUM. Yes the Silver/Gold crase is here also. Not sure if anyone is making as much a percent profit as you mentioned but many people sure are doing OK for now. We have many people that have said some time ago to buy, buy, buy Silver coins and Bullion. Now they are selling and making a profit. I'm sort of just waiting for the bubble to burst. I mean eventually what goes up must come down or maybe not.

The only rule I can think of for buying coins as a silver investment is to pay no more than the value of the silver in the coin. And, make sure these coins are easy to sell when you want the money. I think the easiest coins to sell are the bullion coins, which are at .999 Fine Ag produced by many countries and should sell equally well on the market. Of course, depending on the country, some of these are in more demand than others. Good luck!

Hi Romekd,
The Polish mint is putting out some very nice coins these days - I have bought a few of the recent ones (the Polish Knight series) and the craftsmanship is superb. I would suggest buying coins from your mint just for the artistic value alone - when silver starts going back down I think they will retain a lot of their value. A quick profit is nice, but these are coins that can bring lasting enjoyment.

I have one Polish coin, a 1973 20 Groszy. Not sure where I got it from though. Most of my non-US/Canada coins came from friends that traveled abroad.
