I received this coin today and it looks rather nice.
With all the "Junk" coming out of RAM this year there have been a few exceptions where the design is well thought out and is a historically relevant subject matter, This IMHO is one of them.
Nice design, nice reverse proof like finish and only $10.
It hits all my buttons

It would be nice if this coin was released in limited numbers into general circulation.

I first learnt about the Dirk Hartog pewter plate way back in elementary school. This piece of historically significant 'hardware' normally resides in the Netherlands.

For the benefit of our American other non Aussie friends,
this was the first artifact left behind by Europeans in Australia, when Dirk Hartog landed in Shark Bay, Western Australia on
25th October, 1616.

It is worthy of note that the King and Queen of the Netherlands have just recently visited Australia earlier this month, on an official visit.

I have spent quite a lot of time in the Shark Bay area over the years and when Hartog landed on that island all he would have found was limestone and sand with some low lying scrub on it, A pretty desolate place.
There is a replica of the dish at the site that the original was placed 400 years ago.
The channel between the island and the mainland is a pretty good safe anchorage and is used quite often today.
