H.E.Harris & Co. makes these polyethylene bags for coin storage. They make them in 100 count bags. Are these bags safe to keep coins in for a long period of time?
On the 2x2 question..Is there another way in which to keep them properly closed other than stapling them? Such as an adherant in the inside? What might you suggest?

For the 2x2's I have used double-sided cellophane tape to hold them closed. The tape can make it difficult to open them if/when you want to get the coin out, so experiment first.

Ok Thanks jbuck...I will try the dbl sided tape. I think I actually have some in my lil' sewing box Do you know much about the poly bags? I know not to use anything with PVC in them.

I have never used bags before, but I would hope that anything H.E.Harris had would be safe for coins. Normal (solid/rigid) PVC by itself is not bad for coins; but when plasticizers are added to make PVC soft, it makes for a bad combination! I do not think polyethylene bags would need additives, but if those bags have a "greasy" feel to them, then I would not use them.

The dbl sticky back tape is working well. Im getting much better with getting the backing off the tape, the first time took me about 5 minutes

Double-sided tape can be an art form! I have some super-duty stuff that is almost impossible to get the backing off of, but it holds very well. For stuff like this, I use the Scotch brand that is on a roll just like the regular tape, no backing. http://www.staples.com/webapp/wcs/s...ductId=12779

Luckily I only bought a 25 count package of 2x2, I'm kind of leaning towards air-tites for all my dark siders. It shows them off mch better than the 2x2's. I just cant commit to any coin holder thingy bobber

I forgot to mention, they do make a 2x2 that already has the adhesive on them, but I have never used them. I keep my dark siders in 2x2's and a Dansco album. I do not really collect them; that is, I do not seek them out. The ones I have were given to me by people that know I collect coins, so they have more sentimental value than anything. All of them are circulated; none warrant air-tites!.
