Richard Lobel in his Coincraft catalogue says that what really distinguishes the proof 1887 coins from the circulation strikes is that the edge milling is sharper on the proofs and can almost cut the fingers! He also says that the milling on the proofs goes straight across whereas on circulation coins it has a concave / convex profile. On the proofs I've owned, the lower pearl of the earring was almost separated from the upper pearl by the depth of strike, if that makes sense. Report this Post to the Staff

Unfortunately, this is a seller pic of which there is only one. @alganbagerap I'm not sure what the earring means What do you guys think the grade is and what are the chances this coin is cleaned?
