Here is one I haven't found another example of. There was NOT a C over C in the Cooke collection, nor any of the other collections listed on Colin Cooke's website. There is also no example on the farthinghalfpenny errors website. The low C is very bold and obvious. Neat coin, decent grade, proud to have it in my collection.

That is very neat.
What about the B in Britannia? Looks interesting as well.
Who can speak to UK minting process from 17th century, to identify if they used the same hub and die processes that we use today, to say how this would have happened?

The B looks like it could have been struck over a offset B or a D, but it isn't possible to tell which. Also the O in CAROLVS is struck over a low O, just harder to see. They would have used a punch for the Bust and the figure of Britannia but each letter would have been individually punched into the die.

Early cu was so poor on quality control even Peck drew a line on actual varieties and just noted slight differences on recut dies ETC over and above major varieties. It would be neigh impossible to compile a definitive list.Every new purchase I make seems to be slightly different to my existing piece.Collecting this series is a labour of love.

I've not seen one of these before either. Nice find EF.
There's lots of fun to be had collecting the early coppers. New varieties pop up all the time.
