I feel like the a fore mentioned would make for a nice addition. Just a button you can click which says thank you and or that you like a certain post.

It would cut down on posts drastically. We discussed it before and decided against it.

You and your team do a stellar job with this forum, so please take this suggestion in light of my overall feeling about the site. :-)

~~~
Unless you have already done so in the past, you might want to 'test' that assumption, e.g., try having a 'Like' or 'Thank you' feature for one section of the forum (or the entire forum) and see if there are indeed fewer posts. I prefer the 'Thank you' feature because it is less prone to evaluative judgments compared to 'Like'.
Thanks,
Mark
I've seen it tested on other forums.
I agree. I have seen it ruin an otherwise perfectly good forum. The conversations usually start to suffer from lack of original input.
I can see that. It's far easier to click a button than to say something personal/meaningful, and it's the actual language that makes the forum work. There are real people behind all of this, not empty "likes".
Ah, good points jbuck & Alpha. And hey, if you've seen it tested on other forums, that's good empirical evidence in my book.
Thanks y'all for responding and explaining--one of the many aspects of this forum that make it so good. :-)
