Although gold continues to provide a solid portfolio base for investors, one bestselling author says he is more bullish on copper. Copper prices have been on the rise, outperforming gold prices, since the U.S. election with President-elect Donald Trump's surprise win. Speaking with Kitco News, Gianni Kovacevic, CEO of CopperBank, said that although copper's recent upswing is just a 'short-covering rally,' the longer term fundamental picture remains strong. 'I've been telling people that oil in effect is energy, energy without the use of fossil fuels is electricity and electricity requires copper.' He added that as society moves towards sustainable energy sources, demand for copper will rise.
