I found the year of 2016 was a complete change of how I collect coins. I have discovered I do not really want to continue collecting OGP commemorative. I have also discovered I am not enthusiastic about modern clad coinage anymore...especially small dollars and ATB or State Quarters. I have become very interested in bullion, but to collect, similar to collecting coins. Such as Libertad, Maple, ASE, etc.- but by date. And not for investment generally.

For me, 2016 is when I agreed to help a good friend sell their stamp collection on my ebay store... after all I have gone through so far... I am sure glad I collect coins!!  Our sister site, the stamp forum, is full of very nice, informative collectors though!!

2016 is the first year I decided to buy coins. I bought quite a few and am happy with the direction of coin collection. Overall, it was a tough year, but I got through it and am happy with the results.

Well, I submitted my first coins ever, getting all better or on par grades than I was thinking of, went to some coin shows, sat behind a table with a dealers badge at the Denver Coin Expo. I didn't really build my collection at all this year. My goal for 2016 is to go to the ANA's world fair of money in August. It's back in Denver, 15 miles away from my house!

I started working on my 19th and 20th century US short type set (no gold) after a layoff of over 10 years. This was after thanksgiving this year (2016). I had 17 holes to fill and now 8 remain. I added: 1863 indian 1c 1865 3c nickel 1864 2c copper 1860-O Seated half dime1852 large 1c 1858 seated liberty 25c 1877 seated liberty 50c 1908-D Barber 50c 1980 Susan B Anthony $ That was a lot over just december which isn't even over yet. I won't be as productive next year because the set gets more difficult with the remaining coins. In just 3 or so weeks, I have learned so much from the kind, generous and patient folks at the classic coin grading forum where I hang out for the most part, and other sections where I tread lightly. This forum truly is a community, and I really appreciate having found this place that has given so freely of knowledge, advice (both wanted and unwanted  ), and coin camraderie. Want to thank all of you for patiently helping me learn through my many mistakes  and sharing a part yourselves and your passion with me.  Happy holidays! I finally finished my virtual type set of proof U.S. Coins with the purchase of a proof 20-cent piece. That really was the capstone to my collection, and right now I'm not really looking to buy much of anything except the ongoing series of 5-ounce America the Beautiful "pucks" and the occasional upgrade to the coins in my 7070 album.

In 2016 there were all kinds of new 1 oz silver bullion designs and privy marks being released. I expect that to continue or expand in 2017. I did add a handful of error cents to my collection - clips and double clips. And a few thematic world coins.

Scissel- exactly. Do you have some other specifics that you could mention that I could look into?
In silver 1 oz, so far I collect Rwanda, Somalia, Ukraine, Armenia, Austria, England, US, Mexico, Canada, Nieu and some of the Australia series. I haven't decided on China Panda yet.
I would be very interested in some new countries or bullion just starting up in the last year or so if you have any you recommend?
I am most interested in non-colorized, non-specialty, regular year after year bullion.

I had a banner year.. I usually hold all coins before putting them into the collection until the end of the year. I picked up 112 coins in 2016... Fun Fun Fun....

While being mostly unproductive in general, 2016 will be important to me for finally deciding to do something about the "old collection" I've had in my possession for maybe 2 years. Two months ago I found this awesome community, my first LWC roll finds, my first silver roll find and made my first numismatic purchase (excluding supplies): the copper CCF token that I'm waiting patiently to receive. Most of all, I've been introduced to a hobby and way of thinking that offers TONS to learn and I love that, but also can make you feel like a kid when you see something shiny. My goals for 2017 are completing the sorting, labeling and restoration of what I have and decide on a first album to start.
