I am looking to find 2 affordable Marcus Aurelius coins. I want one for my dad and I because he named me Marcus ( after him) which is actually my middle name which I go by. A search on ebay shows silver Marcus Aurelius coins for around $20 from the Ukraine which I assume are fake? Is there anywhere I can find some that are sure to be original, they don't need to be silver, just original and reasonably priced. Thanks!

Cmt04 One of the best places on the internet is to browse vcoins for peace of mind and you can always post them here before you buy and the Roman experts will help to verify them. Happy browsing Saludos Paul

I second that V coins is the place, in the event of any problems they have good customer support and all the dealers are honest and helpful.

Marcus's bronzes will paradoxically cost you more than a somewhat worn denarius. Here is a reasonable one from a seller who is terrible at attributing, but appears to be on the level: http://www.ebay.com/itm/ROME-ANTONI...57Ciid%253A6He has scores of similar silvers; feel free to browse but run it by us to verify it's not a Lucius Verus or Commodus. Marcus Aurelius is famous for his "Philosopher beard" which was fashionable for over 30 years until Caracalla started the "rough and tumble military man" trend. On his denarii, his name is usually "M ANTONINVS" or similar; Verus will usually have a "VERVS" in the legend (and he also had a pompadour haircut) and Commodus usually has a more rounded nose and "COMM" in the legend.

Bottom one is Commodus. You can see the CO-MM above his head.

The recommendation Finn gave you shows the best portrait so far. At $22 shipped it is by far the best. The seller attributed it to the wrong emperor. It is Marcus Aurelius.

First one looks fine, but for $20-25 ish you could probably do better with some patience.
Second and third look like the same coin?
