Hi, I want to get the coins out of their original mint capsules but I'm not having any luck. Usually with air-tites I can get a sharp knife under the end and eventually pop the capsule open. That's not working for these dimes. Any suggestions? Thanks!
Rest in Peace

Careful use of a razor blade will sometimes find the crack easier.

Thanks moxking , I was finally able to get them with a razor blade. Seems like you could easily get cut or damage the coins if not extremely careful!

I feel your pain.

I bought 10 MOD sets from the mint and 2 of the dollars were already hazed. Since this was a quality control issue on there part I decided to order 2 of the standard proof MOD dollars and just swap them out rather than forfeit my MOD sets since they were sold out and the mint won't send you a replacement on sold out products.

It turns out the diameter of the capsule for the MOD set dollar is different than that of the standard commem dollar capsules. IT took me 45 minutes after opening the capsules trying to push / pull / flex / tap / shake the coins out without messing them up to swap them between capsules.

If I recall the RP dime was not as bead when I removed it for a pocket piece but then again I wasn't worried about fingerprints or marks.

OLD pics.

At least you gave me a laugh with your description of your 45 minutes of fun.
