Help Identify Coin! Silver Star In Shield - Civil War?

We are not coin experts but we found this coin at a Long Island estate sale with a bunch of old coins. Some of the coins in the bag with this one included American Civil War tokens - not sure if this coin is American or from that time period? But it has a lone star in a shield in the center along with what looks like either "I.P." or "1.P." beneath the star. The reverse we cannot make out.

Weighs: 21.1g, O.680 troy oz.
Measures: 37mm round

A magnet does not stick. We're thinking this could be silver?

I'm no expert in Civil War iconography, but your coin looks like lead. It won't stick to a magnet.

I do not know anything about this coin, but I noticed that the specs that OP provided are a little bit off from the posted specs on other posted examples of this coin. 21.8 grams and 35 MM.
I imagine that the minting standards in the Copiapo mint were not very established and therefore I would believe that this coin is genuine.
Nice coin- and kudos to DCH for showing us.
