i know they have a Close AM in 1999 s proof.value at 500.00 plus .i now have to check my 98 s also.better check the 2000 its in this group with type 2 coins

I've also read of 1998-S proof close AMs, but I shouldn't jump the gun here, since all I'm going on is a photo (and I've been wrong before). I'll know for certain when the coin arrives.

The 1998 S proof at the top of the thread is a Wide AM and that is normal.

Yeah, I know...hard to be sure from those photos. I'll know when it arrives--and post a pic either way. Foundinrolls--you're right, I should've looked closer at the initials. Ah well...it was only $4

i have both the 98 p and the 00 in bu red.had some extra's that I sold off!was at a coin shop that did now of them but not the value I paid 2.00 each in bu.and sold them for 20.00 each

The initials FG appear to be close to the memorial. That is also diagnostic of the Wide AM's.
