would strongly recommend taking a pair of pliers and carefully flattening them

them is referring to the staples, flatten the staples.

Thank you for sharing these with us.

Sounds like you are coming up with a good plan. Peace dollars, Walking Liberty halves and also a type set (where you have one of each type)
There are some really nice examples of type sets on here and one of my favorite ways to collect. Many of them are housed in an album. Check posts titled Dansco 7070 and type sets. Great stuff!

And yes, I would re holder these coins for sure.

Thanks again everyone (especially for the advice on the staples and type sets). I put all the coins in my album, so the staples are under plastic, but it would be good to crush them down. It looks like most were crushed down, but a few have been bent up again I think. I wish I could take pictures of all of them and share them. I have another Peace dollar that looks great (to me) too and all the Morgans are so detailed (except one, an 1891-0 that might be Good condition at best... this is just me guessing). Considering the rest of my dad's coins are proofs or MS64 and such, I wonder why it's there. I wonder if maybe it was one of mine that he had in the collection he built for me (maybe it didn't sell and he just paid me for it and kept it in his collection).
