This has the feel of Machine Doubling, but there is separation as can be seen. Let me know what you think.

it's not doubling. I could be wrong but I think it is die fatigue I don't know the exact name for it but I am sure that either Chuck Bill or Coop will be around before long
now I wish I didn't drink that day I was taking that class lol

No Doubling...:-) The plating moves a little during the strike. You get that ridge around the rim and the lettering is effected by the flow of the metal.

Thanks for the information everyone. I took a look at a bunch of 1989D coins last night, about 10% showed some signes of the same effect.
