Well mine is 17.1g so the weight seems right, though your flans seem to be far fuller than mine.

431-393 BC is the wide ranging date of mine and it looks pretty similar though with mine the head band is clearly comprised of two lines instead of one thick one like yours...

I love these coins and yours is a stunner if it's all correct, but dating these things is a mystery to me... I seem to recall browsing through pages and pages of explanations about how the shape of the eyes changed and other minor details so I think you will find information online somewhere...

Good luck ^^

Beautiful coin, love the toning and strike. I still don't have one in my collection, been beyond my price range. Congrats on a beautiful coin.

Thank you for your comments!

What I find confusing is to see Athenian coins which (At least to my inexperienced eyes) "seem" to be of the same type, but are dated by their respective sellers in many different year ranges (e.g. 454-405, 454-404, 449-413, 430-412, etc.)

I believe I am missing completely which details they are taking into account in order to date them.

Or.... is this a still debated subject, with different oppinions? What do you think?

Please if you can recommend me any link with reliable information on the subject I would much appreciate it :)

Thanks again for your time and your knowledge,

Best,
D

Things they use to date them are things like the shape of the eyes and lips and the style of the hair...

This is a link with lots of details, but I think I was looking before at details in a book...which was long and hard going in order to find all the info...
