I really like the 1824 piece and think the grade is accurate. The 1812 might be a touch overgraded and doesn't have the eye appeal of the first one but is still fairly graded overall (might go 25 on another day).

I would say they are accurately graded.

Yes and yes . The first coin is really nice. There are a lot of Collectors and dealers who really like the small older ANACS holders , myself included.

I think that the 1924 is over graded by 5 points, does not amount to much of a difference. The second coin is accurately graded.

The 1824 I think would make 45 based on eye appeal add-ons to technical grade if reholdered by PCGS. The 1812 may receive a deduction to VF25 for the same reason, but it is an 1812. Remember we had a War in that year that resulted in the burning down of much of Washington DC.

I would be happy to own either of these coins. I think you did fantastic based on what you paid for these.

Actually I like them both. the 1824 is a stretch at XF45 IMO, but the eye appeal is worthe the money.

The 1812 is very nice, too!

I knew this was bound to happen with another member of this forum sooner or later. Yeah there were Heritage Live bids on both coins and I waited until the bidding war faded then I cut bid on both. Thanks for being a good sport Small Dawg!

These are the small white holders from about 15 years ago, and I believe there grading standards were stricter on these then the larger yellow label slabs..

I agree on the white slabs but according to my homework the new Neanderthal-looking yellow holders are where they regained their footing. The blue slabs are where they lost their way. I'm sure someone more knowledgeable will correct me if I'm wrong.

Numismatic Student, you are becoming the most knowledgeable history buff on this forum. Well done! If I were you I would put it a request for CCF to change your user name. I suspect the 'student' in your user name leads people to value your opinions less and that would be a horrible mistake.
At some point the student inevitably becomes the teacher.
