Bought this one on a whim. Pics are not good. Have no idea of grade or value of this piece. Anyone have experience or knowledge of these? Paid 14.99. Thanks Jerry http://www.ebay.com/itm/1837-large-...p=true&rt=nc

Thanks for the link Amida17. I've always thought these tokens were cool, and the backstory just adds to the allure!

A few of these in your large cent collection really is interesting. I've always been amazed that these continue to be so available, usually in fairly nice grades, for very reasonable prices.

I have a few in my 1837 date set for fun, too.

thanks for that interesting link Amida. Not sure but after looking at pics of these I think it might be a HT-51?

Nice pickup! Rulau HT-51/Low 36 or HT-50/Low 35, both R2 tokens; yours looks to be decent mid grade circulated. I can't see the reverse leaf-stem-berry arrangement between first E in DEFENCE and E in ONE well enough in seller's pictures to nail down which one it is. Looks like it has a slight reverse CW die rotation which is normal and correct. There are quite a few experts on these and CW tokens who hang out here who will doubtless be able to contribute more useful information than I.

In the condition the price is acceptable.
