Long story short, I bought $40 worth of coins from a seller on 1/4 and paid within 24 hours. The money is already out of my bank account. I went back to check the shipping, and noticed it still said "not shipped". I messaged the seller, and they responded immediately that the money hasn't cleared yet, and they are holding the package until it clears. I went back, confirmed everything was kosher, and politely asked them to check again. No response. I sent another message with the confirmation code, proving that it cleared. Still no response two days later. They are a reasonably established business, so I don't want to burn bridges here. I want the merchandise I paid for in a timely manner. Should I open a case to get ebay to step in?

You purchased on January 4th and the items still haven't shipped? Absolutely, you should open a case, just to be on the safe side. Something is not right here.
My personal opinion is they don't have the coins or sold it too low. They are hoping you go away. I have a feeling, after you file your complaint, you will be refunded quickly.
Keep us up to date and let us know what happened.

I certainly hope that isn't the case! If so, I guess I have both the power and duty to destroy their perfect feedback score.
I messaged them again to give them one more chance. If I haven't heard back in 24 hours I an opening a case.

The money may have disappeared from your account But it sometimes takes a few days to show up in the sellers account. If you use PayPal you don't have this problem

Quote: I certainly hope that isn't the case! If so, I guess I have both the power and duty to destroy their perfect feedback score. As a person who owns businesses, I respect that kind of attitude. The thing is that it is the seller's duty to respond to your emails within a reasonable time frame. You are, in no way, being unreasonable. Hopefully, I am wrong and this is just a misunderstanding. The thing is they stopped responding to you, even though you gave them a confirmation code. That makes no sense. They are not playing straight. Nobody, who is going through all the trouble to prove you paid, is playing a game. I deal with thousands of customers each year. I can sense a charlatan from a mile away and you are not one of them.

Did you pay by some means other than PayPal?
If you used an e-check it takes time (up to ten days) for it to show as paid in the sellers account.
If you used Pay Pal credit, it can also take several days.
You are protected. You won't lose you're money.
I'd advise a weeks patience after last contact before filing.

Agree, an eCheck can take a while. Other than that, looks like you have been patient, and opening a case is the right thing to do.

Seller responded yesterday. Still no payment, but we are on track to both getting what we want. I used ebay bucks for about 25% of the total cost of the transaction, switching through Mobile and desktop view to accomplish the laborious task of using said bucks. I suppose that in whatever view I was in, echeck must have gotten selected as the default payment method.
