Sorry for posting this here, but I have just reinstalled Windows and I have a little browser problem. If there are any PC boffins out there I would be grateful. The problem is with the size of the pages in my browser, I am finding I have to do a lot of scrolling about because all the web pages don't really quite fit into the browser, the test appears a little too large and I feel the need to 'zoom out' a little from this so the full pages can be taken. Anyone know how I fix this problem? I am not a PC geek enough to know how to resolve this.. :( Hopefully someone will help. Edited by NumisMattyUk 03/28/2008 6:43 pm

Meh.. it's not the browser, I think I probably installed the monitor with the wrong width specifications..

Probably setting up the proper video card driver and monitor driver and adjusting the resolution to your taste will fix it.

What exactly do I change?

That really depends on what you have. You should have a CD or DVD that came with your computer, that has the drivers for you to install. Do you have that?
I suppose you don't know how to check your current hardware settings, am I right?

I installed them and have also tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers for the graphics card but I get the same code 10 startup error:
"nVidia WDM Video capture
this device could not start (code 10)"
But I think that refers to a separate problem I have with a lack of sound on the computer.

Likely that error message doesn't affect normal display, just video capture.
What is your current screen resolution?

It isn't the screen resolution: if I change that it makes things look weird. I think I may have set the monitor up wrong...

Doh!
Okay I read the manual for my monitor, and the ideal resolution is 1024 x 768 it says.
I had been using my PC in 800 x 600 resolution for a few days and I must have gotten used to it - going back into the forums they look the way they used to...
Now I still have the above problem with the corrupted driver and cannot play sounds... :(

I get this message on startup
"C:\PROGRA-1\VDOTool\U1\BIOSCTL.EXE C:\PROGRA-1\Symantec\S32EVNT1.DLL
An installable Virtual Device Driver failed Dll initialisation. Choose 'close' to terminate the application."
Uninstalling followed by reinstalling never seems to work. (Have tried at least 3 times)

Yeah, I thought the resolution was the problem, it usually needs changing after a reinstall, since Windows uses a low resolution by default. Glad that's sorted.

Seems like a Symantec related issue? What's VDOTool? Some googling suggest that downloading XP_fix.exe from here may fix it.

VDO tool? I haven't a clue...
not Symantec, ASUS...
Oh, now I realise it says Symantec in the error message I posted above, to me it is just a lot of gobbledegook, I just copied what I saw.

Well, hard to help you without really knowing what you have. Tried the file in the link? Are you running Norton's products?

Ran the file, didn't take long! Restarted PC, no fix.
No I don't like Norton, it's just a pain in the butt.

Well, I am afraid I don't know what else to suggest. Hard to do it, without having a look at the PC.
