Hi all,

This coin is coming up at a local auction and I would really like people's opinions on what kind of value they would put on it. In my opinion, and from research I am expecting that it may go for about £600 GBP, but what is the upper and lower limit for a coin of this grade? I can't find any in such good condition, of this exact type, so it will be interesting to see what you guys think :) Thanks in advance.

Auctionhouse Description: William I Silver Penny, PAXS type; obv. PILLEM REX around crowned facing bust, rev. LIFINC ON PINCE (Winchester Mint) around cross pattee, an annulet in each angle containing one letter of PAXS; full, round, well struck flan with very good edge & surfaces, lustrous blue/gold tone, very attractive, virtually EF -

Winchester and the Moneyer are fairly common which is something that needs taken into consideration when buying these types, I would have personally said GVF or that ballpark, virtually EF is just dragging the grade up for bidding and a higher price. £400-£500 would have been my best bid on it as they are fairly common from Winchester

The coin sold at auction for £650 + Buyers premium, so about £780.

Nice round flan... darn the internet.Way too much £ but hey what do I know? With a strong $ against the £ the prices will rise. Really who wants battered US coins for silly money when you can get gems like that?
