Hi. I just bought some 5 gram pamps on ebay and I'm suspicious they may be fakes. Unfortunately, I didn't find this site till after I purchased them. I've looked at lots of other posts and pics but I'd really appreciate someone else's opinion. What do you think? Thanks a lot!

Here's a counterfeit from my files.

The VeriScan digital bar code is the tip-off. It's the finger print China is counterfeiting.
They use the same bar code on all 5 gram bars recently.
Every VeriScan bar code is different on Authentic gold bars.
Compare this China produced fake to yours:

Have you thought about buying one of those metal testers? If you find just one fake ounce of gold, the machine has more than paid for itself.

I also think it helps when selling. For instance, some photos on e-bay are taken with the coin on the testing machine. While these machines are probably not perfect, they provide a valuable data point.

Who did you buy them from?
Did you buy them from a reputable dealer and pay full price or
did you buy them from Joe Blow who sell jeans but just happened
to have one that he is willing to sell for less than spot.
My guess is you bought them from Joe Blow but I'm sure by know you know they are counterfeit.

Do you have a coin shop in town? Usually they are very helpful and excellent at detecting fakes.

You could send it to me and I will test it, and then leave the country with it. Wait, it's 5 grams...never mind :)

So I just got that tester today, mostly a a fun new gadget. I bought some Omega Bars from our lCS a while back just after some ole ladies sold them back. They seemed a bit nervous, though I figured they were real. However, I kinda wondered, did those ladies fake out the shop? It turns out I was probably making them nervous as they didn't know I was waiting for them to leave to buy their stuff.

So the bars tested fine. However, I did find two fakes in my stash. One was a one ounce bar, and the other a 4 ounce bar. One of these passed the magnet test just fine.

Anyways, I'm glad I have the tester now.

Forget testers. Just take the bar out of the package and cut it with snippers. If it's soft it's gold, if it twangs it's brass. A 5 gram bar will take no effort to cut or even bend with your bare hands. You can even bite the bar and look for teeth marks.
Lesson: never rely on the package to tell you what it is.
