As I'm collecting my set, I also like seeing coins that circulated. I think it adds nicely to the history (imo). How much do you think this coin would be worth? I have a hard time judging circulation coin values.

It's graded by PCGS

Thanks

In the $150-170 range I would think. Nice-looking example.

Preaching to the choir here ... I'm a passionate collector of the classic silver commemorative set in honestly circulated state ... and you could if interested read of my 10 year journey to pursue them in this forum.

Your AU53 California half occupies a sweet spot in the circulated set ... preserved enough to have market demand .. I judge a fair price in the same $150 - $170 range as Coinfrog.

Here is the irony ... suppose it was graded PCGS VF20 or so ... then there is zero market demand ... and not worth the price of certification.

However ... if you (or anyone) could come up with a PCGS FR02 example ... then the inverse pricing applies and the coin would sell at open auction for well above $500.

It's simply demand and supply ... and there very, very few of us who are are the hunt for lowball commemorative.

Very attractive coin! As for value, for some reason these are rather depressed lately and I would put a resale value of $80.00-100.00. Great time to buy. Take a look at this example. To me this is a perfect AU but it's only my opinion... http://www.ebay.com/itm/1936-S-50c-...047675.l2557

@bandsdean- you posted a Baby Bridge commemorative, not a California commemorative.

Well that was a big Oops. Same State counts no? So looking at Heritage and bay sales, $100.00 - $130.00 seem to be the range for decent no problem AU examples. Love the high relief of this one.
