Coin in question is a Roman denarius. It's listed at Delcampe.

Based on such images, which are small and not particularly sharp, does this coin look genuine?

On the other hand, are there any telltale signs of it being fake visible - despite the bad image quality?

Based on your pictures I wound say it's not genuine. Would like to see better pictures.

I don't know the seller but I asked for better photos. Let's see what will be the response, if any.

Anyway, don't the surfaces seem too perfect?

Looks like pieces of candy. Maybe they are chocolate denarii?

I have asked for better pictures. The reply arrived rather quickly. It says:
