I was at a local coin show in the Cincinnati area yesterday afternoon and saw some certified dimes in a dealers showcase. They were graded by a company named International Grading Service. I bought the 3 coins dirt cheap.

I asked the dealer if he knew the company and he had no idea. When I got home, I looked them up and they are located in Cleveland, Tennessee, which, I believe was home to PCI at one time.

Overall, the coins surprised me as they were pretty darn close to the grades on the slab.

Anyone heard of them?

Heard of them? Yes. Are they serious? I think so. Trustworthy? I have no evidence to believe it.

I would never send anything to a grading company that uses a Yahoo! email address.

I don't know anything about the company... but...

It would be nice to have a reliable TPG that did $5 slabs... I think there could be a market for something like that. I know I have a bunch of singles that I wouldn't mind having graded the only drawback being they're $50 coins... I can see paying 10% of the value to have it graded, but not 20% (ANACS) or more (PCGS and NGC).

I kind of agree with you Spring.

They do make no bones about it. They openly feel there is a need for a lower cost slab on ebay.

As I said, I really know nothing about them. Just bought the (3) coins at the show yesterday. They were very attractive coins, which is why I bought them. The price was right as good. Being in IGS holders was definitely secondary for my decision to purchase the coins.

IGS has been around for a little over a year now. They are not well regarded and usually do overgrade

PCI was located in Chattanooga TN then moved to Rossville GA and is currently moving to VA.
Rest in Peace

Hi lonnie,
There is a lower grade and trustable slab, it's called an 'Airtite'.
regards,

Thanks Muckeye.

I just had not seen IGS before and was wondering if anyone else had.
