Not a fan of toning but in this case I like the top one better.

I would say they are both around the same grade , It all depends on ,do you like red or magenta . I like them both .So it's a coin toss for me .

If your after toned coins which many people collect get the first one. Both are very nice coins and would be worth buying depending on price.

Hmmm is this like a Rorschach Inkblot test?

I love toned Lincoln wheat cents, and #1 is a beauty. Number two is also quite nice.

P.S. When interpreting Rorschach responses, mentioning color has some interpretative significance, which is what made me think about the inkblots when reading this post.

Grains of wheat look fuller on the second. A touch of Machine Doubling on the first? Based on eye appeal, I think I'd go with the first unless the marks on the second are superficial stains.

Despite she short field scratch, I much prefer number one as well - a real beauty.
