Here's a pic of my latest Variety find, this time in the Mexico Mo Mint Libertad Series. This is a 2015- 2 Ounce Silver Proof Libertad. I noticed the wing portion was missing, and, sent it into NGC hoping for a label, and, just back with it called "Detached Wing" Variety. Pop 1, so far. Mintage of 1300 coins. There may be a few more in people's collections, many would not even notice the issue.
The Mo Mint rarely makes mistakes, as there are less than 10 varieties for the series, all DDO-DDR, and, 1, 1987 1 Oz silver with a "Missing Wing" similar error, I believe found by Tom McGrady within the last year or so. the abrasion caused by die repair work caused the loss of metal to the wing area. While Coin World, when asked to do a write up declined, stating "too minor" of an issue, heck, I'll take ANY Variety within this series I can get me hands on.
it's fun to find new varieties, too bad NGC does not do the "Discovery Coin" label as anacs does.
Not for sale, with 1 known, this will stay in my collection.
Good article HERE on newest varieties to hunt for:

I have two of this variety. Have you obtained any additional samples of this "Detached Wing" type?

I only have about a dozen Libertads, and I have TWO detached wing samples. How can it be so rare, if I have two? I'm just not that lucky, I'm afraid!

Just a comment: I have a 2015 PCGS PL70 Kilo. And....it's....AMAZING.
