I can to Alabama the 1st time in 1966 and it was real backward compared with upstate ny in 1966. But I was only here 4 weeks of army training
I went to down town out side of fort McClellan and I was buying something and the casher asked for a tax token and here boss said he in the army you do not need one

the tax token I had heard of one but never seen one till a week ago.

Yep. This one's for 5 mils, or half a cent. Sadly, not worth too much in that condition.

I didn't know any states were still using tax tokens that late; I thought they'd all gone out of use by the early sixties.
