Is this a new thing? There are 67 coins that are back in stock and available. These aren't just current coins that have been returned, but dating back 2 or more years. I thought that once it was off-sale, they disposed of the coins whether they sold them to the shopping channel, or whatever, other suppliers. Anyway, a chance to get what you may have missed in the past. http://www.mint.ca/store/buy/back-i...s-cat1150015

Yes, I've been watching this for a few months now. The RCM has definitely changed its policy regarding selling periods for its coins. No more one year sales periods and then done, apparently.

Funny, I thought the same thing a couple of weeks ago as well and started doing research on this. I eventually moved on thinking nobody noticed or cared. I also realized that the RCM has stuff dating back to 2014.

I believe that whatever Bromberg could not sell on shopping channel or at CC&C was returned to RCM thus "Back in stock" for the older coins.

I noticed that too. There are suddenly 2014 and 2015 coins "back in stock".

They all suppose to appear in section "Back in stock and 60% discounted". Only in this case someone will be interested. "Salmon" coin - unusual finish, nice design. I liked it and bought in rush, but didn't really needed it. Sold for CAD 30, issue price was CAD 74.95 Added: So this is indirect answer for CC-Ottawa's inquiry about exact final mintage of the coins dated 2015. No final mintages - the coins are still available for sale. Which makes to assume, that from now "officially" the final mintage equals the maximal mintage.

That why I collect very little anymore the mint has gotten out of hand.
I guess Charlton Catalogue will be useless will not have final mintage or will be wrong .

My thought is that this will establish that the list price of the coin will long after be the same on the secondary market...or possibly less, like the salmon thing silveroid LOL.... In the past, I assumed, wrongly, that they melted down coins that didn't sell well, after a year - if they weren't wanted by TSC or other dealers. This had the effect of increasing the rarity, so then you have a 'dog of a coin' all of a sudden raising in value because 9,000 of the 10,000 mintage were never bought.... Either way, like mentioned above... it doesn't bode well for anybody looking to flip coins, or at least makes it a lot riskier.

I asked the RCM about why they are now selling coins from past years. I was told that they will continue to sell past releases at original issue price due the new policy they have. Apparently they no longer melt down unsold coins. I hope they have a huge warehouse to store all the past release duds.

That is sad news, eventually the RCM will have to have Home Shopping style blockbuster sales to unload these mess of over production

The RCM also said they do not reduce the price even if the market for the coins drop to the floor over the years. Good luck selling a coin for twice what it can bought for elsewhere, especially when it wasn't sold during the original release.

This will mean eventually the RCM will wholesale these duds to someone like THSP to blow out, they should just melt tem and on with next months stuff.
