I found a tutorial for coin preservation/cleaning with a google search. The link is below.

Is this the best way to clean old silver coins with ugly spotting? Has anyone tried this?

I appreciate it, I need something. :)

There is no "best" way to clean silver coins, unless you don't care about their value, since cleaned coins lose most of their monetary value.

The link you posted is a joke site. Notice that the "coin cleaner" is actually a rock tumbler

Coins should never be cleaned as it almost always permanently alters/damages the surface of the metal. For every coin that has been undetectably cleaned, there are 1000 coins out there that a blind man could tell were cleaned.

Hi Captian

As has already been stated,, Cleaning coins is a NO NO,,

for silver or gold coins with pvc then perhaps a soak in pure acetone to remove the PVC and some oils from finger prints, but it will not remove carbon spots .

if you have highly collectable coins perhaps conservation thru a coin conservation company like NCS

Presuming the OP is not a joke, I can't add anything to what has already been said above except to reinforce the axiom: do not under any condition nor situation clean any coin. As Metalman said, certain coins with certain problems can be restored and conserved, but leave it to the professionals.

My personnal opinion is that about the only thing I would pay for to restore is a beloved coin with green copper rot

For half a year now I have been trying to get red spots of a gold 9999 coin without luck sofar ( only tried like 8 solvents sofar )
And I have seen many auctions with very recent french proofs were the vendor says there is red spotting and the coins sell well because obviously everyboddy thinks the same
How difficult can it be to get rid of the spots
